Chris holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a law degree (cum laude) from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego. Chris is admitted to practice before the following:

Steve received his undergraduate degree from San Diego State University in 1977 and a J.D. from University of San Diego in 1982. He has been a member of the California State Bar since 1982.  Steve maintains membership in several professional organizations including the American Bar Association, the San Diego County Bar Association, the Southern California Association of Defense Attorneys, and the San Diego County Defense Lawyers Association, where he served as a former member of the board.  Steve is also a member of the Risk and Insurance Managers Society and the Building Industry Association.

Steve's areas of practice include professional liability, premises liability, employment litigation, personal injury litigation, business litigation, construction defect litigation, litigation of mechanic’s liens, civil rights litigation, including 42 USC §1983 claims of unreasonable force, and drafting and litigating all manner of real estate, employment, and construction contracts. He has represented subcontractors, design professionals, general contractors and developers in defect cases involving a variety of structures, including commercial buildings, single-family homes and multi-unit residential condominium complexes. Steve has defended negligence claims against attorneys, construction managers, architects, engineers, accountants, interior designers, real estate brokers, and insurance brokers and agents.
